patterns, and a variety of classes. Spinning and knitting have enjoyed a
huge resurgence in recent years, the result of people feeling more in tune
with family history, home, and hearth. Young and old, the world has rediscovered
the world of fiber arts!
Much like an old fashioned quilting
bee, people of all ages and times have often come together to spin and knit
as a group for companionship. What better way to enjoy each other’s

“Let’s Do the Time Warp
Again!”…
Team “Time Warp” representing
Montour County, took top honors at the PA State Farm Show sheep to shawl
competition on Wednesday January 14th. The team also won the Team’s
Choice Award, and the Weaver’s Award. With eight teams participating,
each team had to shear a sheep, card and spin the wool, and weave a 22”
X 78” shawl in two and a half hours. Time Warp’s shawl design was
based on the colors and textures of samples of rare rocks and minerals from
central PA.
The event was covered live on the PCN
cable network, and also via the internet on a blog managed by Marni Micek.
